It's a pleasure to introduce you to the Cornerstone Partners team. We may be few in number, but between us we offer a lifetime of experience in property, both in managing investments for others and in managing our own.

We're here to look after our clients' property and do everything we can to maximise their financial returns. We're what Kiwis call "straight up", which means we're honest and direct in the way we work, and committed to developing long-lasting relationships based on integrity and mutual respect.

    CEO & Legal Director

    As a director of Cornerstone Partners, Andrew is successfully combining a 25-year career in property and company law with his passion for "doing deals". He loves the buzz of the property business, and gets great satisfaction from meeting and working with people who share his commitment to achieving win-win results.

    Before joining Cornerstone Partners, Andrew was a Partner in a prominent Wellington law firm; General Counsel and Chief Executive of The Wellington Company (a major player in the redevelopment of Wellington city's urban environments and historic places); and shareholder, director and General Counsel of the Heritage Property Group, a company that specialised in buying heritage buildings for investors.

  • Charlie Zheng
    Investment Director
    BCA, PGradDip Accounting

    Charlie Zheng, a director and shareholder of Cornerstone Partners, is an accomplished accountant and an experienced property investor.

    Charlie has lived in Wellington for nearly 15 years. His role with Cornerstone reflects his love of the city, his keen interest in the property market, and his commitment to providing top-quality tenancy space to businesses in Wellington's CBD.

    "Our priority is to develop enduring landlord-tenant relationships based on mutual trust and respect", he says. "That includes meeting our tenants' needs for safe and secure workplaces through undertaking comprehensive earthquake-strengthening programmes where possible".

    Charlie is also passionate about building New Zealand's trade relationships with China. He's applying his knowledge of the two markets to facilitate export opportunities for Kiwi businesses and develop new markets for quality goods and services.

  • Jack Barber
    Asset Management & Project Director

    Jack's extensive experience as a builder, project manager and property asset manager makes him a key member of the Cornerstone team. With a constant drive to get the best possible value from our property assets, he's actively involved in developing and overseeing often complex projects (such as earthquake strengthening) and in co-ordinating and managing our property maintenance and renewal programme.

    Jack thrives on every opportunity to excel in his role. His keen eye for detail, straight up approach and commitment to our business success are reflected in everything he does; visit any Cornerstone property and you'll see the results for yourself.

  • John Yiappos
    Chief Financial Officer
    BCA, CA

    As Chief Financial Officer at Cornerstone Partners, John is responsible for the company's financial operations, business strategy and performance. With more than 20 years experience working for a range of high-profile companies, including global accountancy firm KPMG, he has overseen audits for national and multinational businesses and enjoyed dealing with a diverse range of clients.

    John has a strong interest in the property and finance industry and this is reflected in his desire to work in the commercial property industry. His extensive experience in accounting and finance includes taking on a number of senior management positions with companies that hold portfolios of over $250 million.

    Before joining Cornerstone, John was Finance Manager at NZX for four years.

  • Jacquie Hill
    Manager Property & Facilities

    Jacquie brings more than 25 years experience in the Wellington property industry to her role as Manager Property & Facilities at Cornerstone Partners. She has managed property in a range of different industries including electricity, telecommunications, local government and transport.

    Jacquie says what attracted her to Cornerstone was "the opportunity to be involved in a company whose sole focus was the acquisition and management of commercial properties".

    Over the years, Jacquie has developed strong relationships with tenants and contractors alike and thrives on the diversity involved in property management. In particular, she loves the architectural design and style of buildings and fit-outs and has a keen eye for detail in property and lease management.

  • Shane Johnston
    Financial Controller

    Shane is the financial backbone of the Cornerstone Partners team. With almost 30 years experience in all aspects of accountancy practice, he's responsible for the detail of our financial operations, from managing, monitoring and reporting on our financial performance to providing expert analysis and advice in relation to our commercial property portfolio.

    Shane has two additional qualifications that made him an obvious choice for the job. He enjoys the challenge of transforming numbers into meaningful business information, and he has a keen interest in property management and investment. Combining these with his strong service ethic and can-do attitude, he really "adds value" to the Cornerstone team.

  • Nick White
    Manager Property & Facilities
    LLB, BCom

    Nick is responsible for Cornerstone’s commercial properties – ensuring that they remain in tip-top condition and operating smoothly for our tenants and their visitors. He’s well qualified for the role, with a passion for property, a knack for solving complex issues quickly and efficiently, and years of experience in managing property portfolios in New Zealand and overseas. 

    Nick also has a strong background as a lawyer, having worked for prestigious firms such as MinterEllison, Quigg Partners and Garnham Property Group. Most recently Nick worked for WSP Opus, where he advised on, negotiated and managed a suite of property acquisitions and disposals.

    Nick is committed to ethics and transparency in all his business dealings, and to developing positive, productive relationships with our tenants and suppliers – all qualities that are at the heart of the Cornerstone Partners business.

  • Brenda Boughen
    Property Management Consultant

    Having specialised in commercial property for almost 40 years, Brenda brings an impressive range of skills and experience to the Cornerstone Partners team. 

    She has worked for local government, government agencies and high-profile corporate entities, with roles including property valuer for Wellington City Council, commercial property manager and in-house portfolio valuer for AMP, real estate consultant and researcher for Ernst & Young, commercial sales and leasing agent for CBRE, and manager property and facilities for CentrePort Properties.

    Brenda’s extensive knowledge of the Wellington market, combined with her passion for strategy-driven property valuation, management and development, is a real asset for Cornerstone – and ultimately for our tenants, suppliers and business associates.

  • Rebecca Reed
    Public Relations & Communications Consultant
    BA, BBC

    Rebecca Reed, is an award-winning communicator with more than 16 years experience working with large multinational corporations, small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and community organisations throughout New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

    Rebecca is Cornerstones' specialist for Public Relations, media and communications, providing strategy, advice and profiling the company in a range of media outlets. Her role involves a mix of proactive and reactive communications, working with Cornerstone to promote its projects as well as respond to media queries.

    Having worked as a journalist, Rebecca has a good news sense and has developed strong relationships with media over the years. She understands the media landscape and applies that knowledge with the development and implementation of effective communication and Public Relations strategies, giving her clients the positive profile they deserve.

  • Mark Wotton
    Marketing & Design Consultant
    Dip VCD

    Offering more than two decades of experience in advertising, graphic design and brand development, Mark is Cornerstones' go-to specialist for marketing and communications advice, strategy and design.

    Mark works closely with the Cornerstone team at all levels of the business, marketing our buildings and building developments to prospective tenants; informing new and updating existing tenants; communicating with suppliers and other business associates; and explaining and highlighting our work through external media and other channels.

    Having run his own graphic design agency, Mark understands the practical realities of the business world. He applies those insights and his talent in strategy development to his creative (and award-winning) endeavours, creating solutions that help his clients to achieve that vital competitive edge.
